With profound sadness, family, friends, and members of the Ellsworth, Maine, community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Heather Allen, 39, who was killed in a three-vehicle crash Sunday evening on Route 1 in Gouldsboro, Maine.
According to the Maine Department of Public Safety, the crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. near the intersection of Route 1 and Old Route 1.
Authorities said Courtney Washington, 46, of Bangor, was driving a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek when she failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Heather’s 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer as Heather was traveling east on Route 1. The impact caused Heather’s vehicle to roll over and enter the westbound lane, where it collided with a 2014 Subaru Legacy.
Heather was pronounced dead at the scene after becoming trapped inside her vehicle. A passenger traveling with her was also injured but suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The crash left two other people injured, including Washington and the driver of the Subaru Legacy, who were both transported to the hospital for treatment.
Heather’s unexpected passing has left her family, friends, and loved ones devastated as they face the unimaginable pain of losing someone so special. She will be remembered for the moments she shared, the lives she touched, and the memories she created with those who knew and loved her.
