Family, friends, and members of the Lenoir, North Carolina, community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Daniel Jason Roberts, 46, and Dylan Daniel Roberts, 20, whose lives were lost after a tragic incident in the waters of Holden Beach.
On Sunday morning, August 2, 2026, emergency crews responded around 9:43 a.m. to the 1100 block of Ocean Boulevard West after receiving reports of two people struggling in the ocean. First responders arrived and immediately began rescue efforts and advanced life support in an attempt to save them.
Despite the tireless efforts of emergency personnel, Daniel and Dylan Roberts were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their sudden passing has left a family heartbroken and a community grieving the loss of two lives taken far too soon. The pain of losing a loved one is immeasurable, and the memories, love, and moments shared with Daniel and Dylan will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew them.
