MINEOLA, N.Y. — Authorities are continuing their investigation into a fatal incident that occurred near the Long Island Rail Road tracks in Mineola shortly after midnight on Monday, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old Garden City resident.
According to preliminary information released by the Nassau County Police Department, officers responded to reports of an individual near the railroad tracks in the area of Old Country Road and Willis Avenue during the early morning hours. Emergency personnel, including members of the department’s Emergency Service Unit (ESU), were dispatched to the scene, where they located the deceased individual.
The victim has been identified as Delaney Gunn, 18, of Garden City. Officials confirmed that the Office of the Medical Examiner conducted an examination and ruled the death a suicide.
Police stated that no additional injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
