Authorities have identified the victim in the fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Waterloo, Iowa, as detectives continue their investigation and seek the public’s assistance in solving the case.
According to the Waterloo Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:01 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, to the parking lot at 516 W. Mullan Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.
First responders immediately began lifesaving measures before transporting the victim to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite every effort by medical personnel, the man later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The victim has now been identified as 63-year-old Henry Greer of Waterloo. His death has left family, friends, and members of the community mourning the loss of a loved one while investigators continue working to determine exactly what happened during the early morning hours.
