PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Jennifer Buckley, a Plymouth Township trustee and respected community leader, has died after a tree fell onto the porch of her home during a powerful storm that swept through southeastern Massachusetts on Monday afternoon. She was 61.
According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, the tragic incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. at Buckley’s residence on Sullivan Avenue. Investigators said she was sitting on her porch when a large tree suddenly snapped and crashed onto the house, striking the area where she was seated.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Buckley to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate that a strong wind gust generated by the severe weather caused the tree to break and fall onto the home, officials said. The incident took place as powerful storms moved across parts of Massachusetts, bringing heavy rainfall, localized flooding, and damaging winds.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal tree collapse.
